We are partners in adventuring, raising one (soon to be two!) kind humans, kitchen experimenting, working, and just living life in general.

Kate hails from Colorado but, contrary to stereotype, didn’t get into the outdoors until she moved to Minnesota for college. She is a camp kid through and through and has always had an enterprising spirit, starting with selling “rainbow boards” — pieces of Crayola’d plywood from her dad’s scrap pile — with her brother Ben when she was 6.

Jared is in his element when he is in the elements, which is good since he will spend the greater part of a year (mosquitos through blizzards) on the land with just our dog (and the occasional choppy FaceTime and help from a friend) to keep him company. He proudly earned the nickname “swamp boy” in his youth, for all but taking up permanent residence in the marshes around his childhood home in Savage, MN.

Jared and Kate hope to turn what they have dubbed “The Headwaters” into a lovely woodland oasis that will be their home, playground, and business; a place that can eventually be enjoyed by many.
